In 1998 Justin was diagnosed with Stargardtz disease, a rare form of macular degeneration, which will slowly and unpredictably deteriorate his central vision. Currently, his vision is stable at 20/200 causing him to be legally blind. As stargardtz is a genetic disorder there is no cure and his vision can not be corrected.
Despite battling his visual impairment, Justin never let the adversity of being different hold him back. Since Justin was a child, he has been actively involved in his local church which has played a pivotal role in his life. He often found inspiration and faith from his favorite scripture Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
Justin along with Brad and Kyle has worked to show the world that blindness is not a limiting factor in life. Through his many adventures he has learned not only the value of teamwork but the truth behind the differences of being handicapped and disabled. Justin hopes to not only teach but inspire others through his adventures and summits.
